About Us

The founder of Small and Simple Acts of Art, Mary Alexander, and her husband, Jeff, were both patients of Moffitt Cancer Center. Anyone who has ever battled cancer, or has had a family member battle with cancer, or any other disease, for that matter, knows that it is a very long, tiring, emotional process that takes a great toll on not only the physical body, but the soul as well. While Mary and her husband's bodies were healing, Moffitt felt that their souls needed to heal as well. It was there that they were introduced to the Arts in Medicine program. This program had such a profound impact on their healing, that they were discouraged to find this therapeutic healing was not available in their hometown of Sebring, Florida. Determined to help others, Mary has learned as much as possible about this therapeutic healing and, because of her strength, desire to help others, and her warrior spirit, she now has the opportunity to offer this healing to others.

Because of the desire in her heart to help others along their journey, Mary decided to obtain a Masters degree in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida. The program and the amazing people she has worked with inspired her to open her own business, Small and Simple Acts of Art, in Sebring.

Small and Simple Acts of Art was created to help individuals during their healing process through art, music, writing, poetry or whatever inspires the individual. Small and Simple Acts of Art was designed with everyone in mind. You don’t have to be a professional artist or a patient in hospice to participate. We have a fundamental belief that there is an artist inside everyone. It doesn’t matter what your skill level or age is, Small and Simple Acts of Art can help calm your storm.
